Overview
Scrum Master with 5+ years’ experience in IT/data-driven environments, leading Agile/Scrum delivery in multi-team setups. Improves squad efficiency, reduces run-and-maintain work, and enables innovation. Coaches self-organisation, facilitates Scrum ceremonies, removes blockers, and coordinates dependencies via Scrum-of-Scrums. Ensures end-to-end delivery, continuous improvement, risk management, and stakeholder alignment. Fluent in English, with knowledge of French or Dutch.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the squad’s efficiency.
- Empower the squad to reduce run-and-maintain activities, freeing up capacity for refactoring and innovation.
- Orchestrate end-to-end feature delivery, aligning with stakeholders for planning.
- Track and coordinate cross-squad dependencies, including leading Scrum-of-Scrums to ensure synchronised progress across tribes.
- Coach the team in self-organisation and Agile/Scrum practices (ceremonies, artefacts, etc.).
- Drive continuous improvement within the squads.
- Remove obstacles or help the team remove them, ensuring focus on objectives.
- Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution, creating a safe and trustworthy environment.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate information sharing.
- Protect the team from unexpected work inflow.
- In collaboration with contributors, establish and follow up on the delivery plan for features.
- Be responsible for managing risks, dependencies, and obstacles during feature delivery.
- Organise Scrum-of-Scrums to align relevant squads and tribes.
- Report on delivery progress during the Delivery Board.
- Maintain a high level of alignment with other feature or Opus roles (owner, quality, release, etc.).
Must Have Skills
- At least 5 years as a Scrum Master in IT/data-driven environments, with a track record of improving team autonomy and delivery predictability.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with a pragmatic approach to adapting frameworks to team needs.
- Experience in Scrum-of-Scrums and scaling Agile in complex, multi-team environments (e.g. SAFe, LeSS).
- Knowledge of data pipelines/ETL processes is advantageous (to understand squad challenges).
- Familiarity with Kanban for managing run-and-maintain activities alongside sprint work.
- Proven ability to reduce technical debt and optimise workflows in collaboration with engineers.
- Experience in stakeholder management, including translating business goals into actionable Agile plans.
- Hands-on involvement in feature delivery, from planning to deployment, with a focus on end-to-end ownership.
- Fluent in English (mandatory for cross-tribe collaboration).
- Proficiency in at least one national language (French or Dutch) plus passive understanding of the second, to engage with local stakeholders and squad members.
